Glovo, the Spanish on-demand delivery startup, has today announced that they have appointed a new General Manager for the Kenyan market. Priscilla Muhiu will take over the reins as the new GM for the country. She takes over from William Benthall who was Glovo’s General Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa.
A press statement released today indicates that she was the Africa Marketing Head for Glovo. She is the one who led the team that launched Glovo in Kenya and Côte d’Ivoire.
“I am delighted to be taking over from William as the General Manager for Kenya. I’m looking forward to continuing the good work that we have done here with Glovo, in a market that is very vibrant and full of promising prospects,” she said.
Priscilla brings 13 years of experience in business development and marketing. 9 of those years have been spent on working with tech companies including OLX and Sendy. She also brings knowledge on growth hacking, market development, and business modeling. She is also very passionate about solving problems in Africa through the use of innovative technologies
The appointment of the new General Manager for Kenya shows that Glovo is serious about the Kenyan market. According to Glovo, they are in 22 countries and over 660 cities worldwide. In Africa, they are available in Kenya, Côte d’Ivoire, and Morocco. They claim to have 1,600 employees with over 7.3 active customers worldwide.
Glovo has a presence in major towns in Kenya majorly Nairobi and Mombasa. The app is available on Android and iOS where users order practically anything to their location. They have partnerships with restaurants for them to order meals. They also have a partnership with supermarkets like Carrefour to order shopping to the location a user orders from. Additional items one can order on Glovo include beauty and health products, drinks, or even express shipment.
Glovo has more than 2.5 million monthly active users, 50,000 active couriers, and over 50,000 associated partners worldwide.
