The Nokia 5.3 was officially launched in Kenya in late June retailing at Kshs 23,000. The phone is available in Dual SIM with 64GB RAM of ROM variant
Seeing as its August and I’m doing this review almost two months later (blame the Covid-19 pandemic), I’m gonna try and give a full review before the end of the month but here are the specs of the phone.
I’ve had this device for about a week now and it already feels like a solid budget device that offers great value for your hard-earned money
Design
The Nokia 5.3 has an elegant 2.5D glass front and a scratch-resistant composite back and it comes in 3 colours; Cyan, Sand and Charcoal.
The screen is 6.55 inch HD+ display and has a resolution of 1600×720 pixels which is kinda perfect for streaming, gaming and for full immersion into those never ending Zoom calls.
Battery
The specs of the phone say that it has a two-day battery life. Mine has lasted longer because its my secondary device but I’ll make an effort to use it more in the coming weeks to see if it actually lasts 2 days, or even more š
Camera
The device has a versatile Quad camera that enables you to see the world in a new perspective. You can get up close with the macro lens or capture the entire scene with the ultra-wide 118Ā° lens. The smartphone has rear cameras with 13MP AF (f/1.8, 1.12um), 2MP depth, 5 MP (118Ā°) UW, 2MP macro lens camera fixed focus and a front-facing camera 8 MP (f/2.0, 1.12um)
I’ll show you guys a couple of shots in the coming days
Software
It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor that has managed to handle tasks like working on my blog, using social networking apps and editing a few short videos without lagging.
I’ll however use it more extensively to see how much it can withstand but so far so good.
Also, being an Android One phone means the software is similar to the Google Pixel phones, with no special user interface, additional apps, or other alterations to Googleās basic Android style. Android One also ensures guaranteed monthly security updates for 3 years and OS updates for 2 years. If this isn’t a selling point to you, I don’t know what is.
Watch out for the full review soon.
