For over a decade, mobile money has been
transforming access to financial services
around the world. According to the latest GSMA State of the industry report on mobile money, the scale of mobile money continues to grow, with more than 866 million registered accounts in 90 countries and $1.3 billion transacted every day. Kenya’s M-PESA, this comes to about over 25 million a day.
A bulk of these transactions happen between withdrawals and deposits but a significant fraction also goes to Lipa Na M-PESA’s Paybill service.
This morning, Safaricom made the announcement that it has now made it easier to get short term Paybill numbers for medical funds, education purposes e.g raising school fees, wedding and funeral purposes and for charity.
A short-term Paybill is valid for a maximum duration of 6 months and all applications made through the online portal will take 24 hours to be processed after submitting the required documentation
How will you collect the funds after?
Using the nominated mobile number that was captured on the application form, simply dial *234*4# and select number 1 for withdraw cash. Select option number 2 to bank, and then enter the Paybill number.
Note: you can only withdraw funds to the bank account provided during the application process.
